MANEKIN PROJECT WINS BEST IN AMERICAN LIVING AWARD

The Residences at Bulle Rock won a Best in American Living Award (BALA) from Professional Builder magazine and the National Association of Home Builders for design quality and superiority in the marketplace.

The resort-style community won a 2007 BALA Silver Award for Best Community Facility 151 units and over for its Residents’ Club (1200 Bulle Rock Pkwy, Havre de Grace). It was one of 77 award winners, selected from more than 325 entries by a panel of 14 builders, architects, land planners, developers, design professionals and interior designers.

About The Residents’ Club

The Residents’ Club was developed by Manekin, LLC, Clark Turner and H&S Development Corporation; land planned by Morris Ritchie & Associates, Inc. (MRA), designed by Gaudreau Inc., built by Manekin Construction and decorated by Marc-Michaels Interior Design, Inc.

"It’s a first-class, state-of-the-art facility with great attention to details – inside and out," said Craig Wess, president of Manekin Construction, which also renovated the clubhouse at the nearby Bulle Rock Golf Course: Maryland’s #1 public golf course and home of the McDonald’s LPGA Championship.

Two projecting octagonal bays at the front entrance colonnade are punctuated by lofty windows and topped with towering spires.

Inside, the Residents’ Club features turn-of-the-century American design with neo-Classical details and contemporary lighting. The overall theme is casual elegance and comfort to enhance the year-round resort lifestyle offered at The Residences at Bulle Rock.

Looking out to spectacular views of the Chesapeake Bay, a dramatic rotunda in the center features a dome ceiling with dark rustic beams, detailed wood floor, and comfortable seating area decorated in terra cotta, chocolate and ice blue tones. Continuing with the formality of the rotunda space, two curving wooden staircases descend to the lower level.

Enabling "wi-fi," a cyber café offers a coffee shop ambience. The adjacent kitchen features bakery artwork, microwave and convection ovens, stainless steel appliances, wooden cabinets, granite countertops, a refrigerator and coffee makers.

A player piano is located in front of the café area, while French doors behind the café lead outside to the upper level terrace, which runs the length of the building. The terrace features com
