OWEN ROUSE is a Senior Vice President and a partner in Manekin, LLC. He is responsible for the firm’s equity raising activities and the selection of appropriate investments that align with the profile of various equity sources. His 31-year career in commercial real estate has covered several disciplines including acquisition, disposition, construction, appraisal, asset and portfolio management, loan workouts and various consulting assignments. Mr. Rouse sits on both the firm’s Management and Investment committees and plays an active role in the strategy and direction of the company.
He previously directed both the Investment Services and Brokerage division (two of the company’s five core business groups) guiding commercial real estate brokers in three offices in transacting business for both tenants and landlords locally, regionally and nationally. As Director of Manekin’s Investment Services practice, Mr. Rouse represented both the firm and its clients in the purchase and sale of commercial real estate, site selection and assemblage, and structuring transactions. His career includes approximately $800 million in acquisition / disposition volume in most major property types.
Prior to joining Manekin in 1995, Mr. Rouse was employed by Alex. Brown Realty Advisors, which through a series of mergers now operates as Jones Lang LaSalle. During his tenure at Alex. Brown, he served in a number of roles in the firm’s institutional investment management business advising public pension systems nationwide on commercial real estate.
A former president of the local chapter of the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties, he also served on the Advisory Board of the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola College.
Mr. Rouse has been a guest lecturer at the Berman School of Real Estate at Johns Hopkins University and is currently serving as Board President for Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity and a board member of the Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation Board.
A resident of Baltimore, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning from McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College) and a Masters in Business Administration from the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola College in Maryland.
